Singapore Story Part 1

It's nice to get away for a little while and the opportunity to visit and stay with my husband's sister who is working in Singapore was our chance to enjoy a nice family adventure.
When your two this is the best way to get around town... on Dada's shoulders!
Kicking things off with a big breakfast - a fruit platter, fried carrot cake omelette and rice congee.
We all loved the variety and choice of interesting breads available in the bread shops in Singapore. Aiden in particular enjoyed making his selections.
Singapore has plenty of interesting architectural buildings. This is the ion building on Orchard Road.
Singapores MRT train system was easy and reliable to get around town on.
Yong Tau Foo for lunch - I love picking out the fresh veggies and stuffed tofu pieces to make your own soup combo from.
Orchard Road is filled with shops and interesting street art. If only I had more time and money to explore it further.

With so many fashion boutiques there are plenty of amazing window displays to be inspired by.
These sculptural metal ants at Gardens by the Bay were captivating.
Gardens by the Bay was a great day out and the two domes were wonderful to explore. There was so much amazing botanical inspiration within the two domes that I'll share this all of these beautiful in a subsequent blog post (Part 2).

The flower dome at Gardens by the Bay was filled with interesting sculptural animals amidst everything.

All the kids received little maracas on entering the flower dome and Aiden loved his. He also enjoyed spending time with his Auntie.
I loved spending time with my boy and seeing him explore a wider world.
This figure has the perfect spot amidst the orchids to admire the Cloud Dome at Gardens by the Bay.
In the Cloud Dome at Gardens by the Bay there was a number of beautiful carved wooden sculptures of traditional Asian legendary animals including this dragon.

After exploring the two domes we wandered over towards the Marina Bay sands area.

The large resort style swimming pool where we were staying. Sunday morning was the perfect time to hang out together and enjoy the water.
Ponds filled with goldfish and lilypads lined the other side of the walkway around the pool.

The afternoon tea spread at the Tea Lounge, Regent Four Seasons Hotel.
The afternoon tea is served buffet style so you can select which treats you want.
Aiden made a beeline for his beloved macarons.
The beautiful tranquil water-lily pond beneath the lotus-shaped Art and Science Museum.
Another architectural building inspired by the landscape was the Louis Vuitton boutique that floated out over the river like a ship.
The Art Science Museum at Marina Bay Sands Singapore is designed to resemble a lotus flower floating above the river.
An animation inspired by Japanese Edo screens was mesmerising.
The exhibition is a kid's playground with crawling tunnels and slippery dips to enjoy.
One of the favourite parts of the exhibition is where the kids can colour in the animals before scanning them in.
Aiden loved the coloured light blocks you could move around and sit on.
Also on at the museum was an exhibition of Escher Artworks.

The third exhibition on was centred around the explosion of data information.

Our next big adventure was to the Singapore Night Safari. There's a train ride through the dark to view some of the animals.

The recycling demo from the resident sea otter was rather cute.
The next day was a day for my husband, we visited the kwan im thong hood cho temple dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy.
We bought fresh flowers and incense to leave as offerings.
We then met up for lunch with one of my husbands former bosses and now a friend to enjoy a Penang style buffet. In the evening we were able to enjoy a night out on the town together whilst Aiden hung out with his Aunt.
Our first stop was to Raffles Long Bar to enjoy the traditional Singapore Sling which was nice but we loved the original 1915 Gin Sling even better! The peanut strewn floor was a shock at first but we soon got into the spirit of the place chowing down on peanuts too.

The Snickerz chocolate cake with guala melaka cream was so moreishly delicious.
We spent our final day in Singapore catching up on a little more shopping before heading back home on the night flight. Overall we didn't try to do too much as we were travelling with our two and half year old son and it was also meant to be a time to catch up with family and relax. The trip went well and the flights were better than expected as Aiden was quite happily settled.
