Chapter 5 – Images of the City
“Every discourse sets up a spatial order; a frozen image that captures the manner in which the transitory present is perceived.” (Boyer 1994; p.32)
Narrative Inquiry also ties into how we view or ‘see’ a city. Imagery is an important element of narrative and imagery itself often sets or brings to mind a particular story or experience. Certainly how we view a city and the images it forms upon our retina are an essential aspect contributing to our experience of the city. One possibility for representing narrative is through image and capturing this setting for experience.
